My NEW cell phone
I had told you about my cell phone, right? Where were we? I guess I told you the story up to the point where I fixed the cell phone doing acrobatic moves and stuff.
In my recent trip to New York, my poor phone started nagging again and since I couldn't do anything for her she died after a long illness.
Now here I am mourning for her and paying Verizon $50 a month for the cell phone I don't have.
I called them today and said: Look, my phone has broken in two pieces and it was not my fault!!! You have two options. Either let me stop payments until the plan is over or authorize me for early renewal. (For those of you who don't know, when you renew your plan, you can get the phone with discounted price. )
I guess the lady in the customer service was either too nice or I frightened her or something because she said that she authorized me for early renewal and I get a $100 discount on the plan (Just like their other customers who are renewing now)
So, happy koozeh went downtown to find a descent phone.
First thing you would notice was that all the phones had like $50 to $80 rebates.
So you would have to pay that now and they will send you the rebate later (and I have one experience that I bought something from best buy and they didn't send me the rebate)
Anyhow, so I am looking at the phones and I think I like one of them. The price tag says $120 with $50 rebate. I ask the lady how does this work. Since 129-50 rebate- 100 discount is actually negative. She says:" yeah, on this special cell phone we give you only part of that $100 discount".
Then I like this other phone and I ask questions ... Finally I say that I want the one year plan by the way not the two year plan. She says that that the price of the phone will be $50 higher! The prices they had up there was based on two-year plan. So I am doing little calculation and suddenly she adds "And oh by the way that $100 discount is only for the 2 year plan too"
Great, so they don't give me discount for the $100 and increase the price by $50!!!
On the other hand if I choose to terminate my service before the two-year comes, I would have to pay Verizon $175!!!
So I thought I better keep my $150 today and if I needed to I will pay $175 later!!!
Now I want to choose a plan. They don't have anything for less than 300 minutes airtime and unlimited nights and weekends. I swear I use only 100, Max!!!
So I have to get that plan too!
Finally, I paid $120 to the store in the hope of getting my $70 rebate and came out!
